Galaxy S8 Android Oreo 8 update delay Samsung has revealed some shock news
SAMSUNG Galaxy S8 users are still desperately waiting to find out when Android Oreo 8 will arrive on their smartphones and this latest news may not be what they want to hear.
Samsung’s award-winning Galaxy S8 launched back in the spring and has gone on to be one of the best smartphones of the year.
With a stunning AMOLED edge-to-edge curved display, which covers almost the entire front of the phone, and market-leading camera, it’s not hard to see why so many fans have upgraded to this flagship device.
Recent price cuts have also made it incredible value with some contracts now costing as little as £23 per month.
However, for all of its greatness there is one issue as the Galaxy S8 still hasn’t been given the latest version of Android.
Users of the S8 are currently with Android Nougat and there’s no sign of when the blockbuster Android Oreo update will become available.
Android Oreo was launched by Google back in the autumn and brings a number of improvements to this hugely popular operating system.
New features include improved multitasking, better security, longer battery life and the inclusion of Samsung’s new GIF keyboard.
Now a new release from Samsung may bring some very bad news for S8 fans.
The Korea technology firm has just revealed its new A8 smartphone which will go on sale next April.
This mid-range device features a 5.6-inch AMOLED infinity display, decent processor and new dual-lens front-facing camera.
However, if you trawl through the spec sheet you’ll also discover that this brand-new device will ship with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and not Android Oreo. This seems like a very strange decision from Samsung and could prove that the Korean tech firm isn’t considering a release of this latest OS until later in the spring.
We do know that Samsung is beta testing Oreo with some users, who own unlocked devices, already switching over to Google’s latest software – but there’s still no official word from Samsung on a release date.
Even once Samsung has completed its checks it will then need to be passed to the mobile networks for them to complete numerous tests.
